Raids, mugs and other RP actions shouldn’t have to be advertised/announced in anyway whatsoever. The ‘/advert’ command has been misinterpreted anyway, as it was intended to advertise a business within a server or to talk globally in character. If in real life, someone was robbing a bank they wouldn’t broadcast it to everyone in town. In many roleplay servers, you have to advert a raid, mug and even a hit and it is pointless. If players metagame more than once, then it should be taken to consideration but it isn’t a thing that is ban-worthy.Īll in all, the immersion aspect of RP is quiet important, and metagaming can interfere that hence why I agree with it in the first place.Īdvertising RP actions is stupid. For example, if I said publically in out of character (OOC) “meet me by the fountain” to a certain player and we actually met by “the fountain”, that would be metagaming. Metagaming is “an out of character action where a player’s character makes use of knowledge that the player is aware of but that the character is not meant to be aware of” (according to wikipedia). Would their character be scared or would he be iron fisted, and try to defend himself? So the player can make whatever choice he or she chooses to make for the RP character they have created and they are playing as. Personally, as a rule of the server, it is stupid because RP is about character development and the player putting himself in his character's shoes. This is also especially important during PD raids as the police spawn in the PD.įearRP is quite debateable. Superior Servers use this logic with raiding and NLR and it works very well. However, if the defenders die, I think they are allowed to go back to their base that is being raided and make an attempt to take it back. To this, I think that during a raid, if the attackers die they can’t raid the same place again for some time. If you die in the middle of a raid, you can’t go back there for x amount of seconds. Personally, I would have NLR but only to an extent. I feel as though NLR is forced a lot, however I don’t think there is a lot I can say about it, it's mainly up to the server. All in all, the way I see it with RDM, and RP as a whole, is that it's about the jobs and roles. These are the types of players that should be punished. It's really all that simple.įinally, it is obvious that people will join RP servers just to kill a bunch of people to aggravate and strip them from their fun. Players can be police officers and arrest the murderer or other players can have weapons for self defense. So, What can the players of the server do to prevent shootings or murders from our ‘terrorist’ or ‘psychopath’ role? Well there's many ways, and that's not calling an admin. However, again, if it's something that fits that job role or description, it's fine if you take into account the rules. Now, if a citizen started to just mass RDM, then there would be a problem. Personally, I would take into account the jobs and who people actually are. And when it comes to only killing one other player, they have to wait 5-10 minutes before killing another. If they die however, they have to wait another 10-20 minutes before doing it again.

But how do we solve mass RDM? Well, what I would do is make a job for a terrorist or a psychopath, and once every 10-20 minutes can they perform a mass shootout. However, going back to my previous point, the player could be roleplaying as some sort of homicidal maniac. Now like I said, there are some aspects that should be taken to account. It's not that the victim's care about server rules, it’s that they’re mad because they died. Players need to stop moaning all the time to an admin because they died without reason. The assailant of RDM might be roleplaying as a killer or a psychopath. Personally, if a player kills another without reason, it really doesn’t matter.

So what should you do about it? Well, there's only certain aspects of RDM you should take into account. There is no doubt that RDM can earn you a kick or a dreadful rooftop session. RDM means Random Deathmatch, and if a player kills another player for no reason, it can be classed as RDM. However, the way I see it, the way to run a fun server is not to have these rules.
